“Would you rather feel sadness or feel nothing?” At least with sadness, there was once something that you cared about enough to feel at all, and that rather poignant observation from his young sister Viola (Sapphire Paine) is part of a touching narration as we spend a few hours in the company of knife-crime victim Rajai Mitchell. There isn’t anything especially revealing, dramatic or controversial in this short feature, we just watch as he continues his complex recovery after a brutal attack left him requiring an heart transplant. He is dealing with that aftermath his way, but his sister, mother and grandmother are also having to, too - and that means occasionally replacing a lightbulb or, as the title teases, maybe replacing an “expensive” goldfish too. Real people reflecting on real events and it is worth a watch.
